What is Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to residents of India. It serves as proof of identity and address.
Enrolment
You can enrol for Aadhaar at any authorised enrolment centre. You need to provide demographic and biometric details. The service is free for first-time enrolment.
Update
Demographic updates (name, address, etc.) and biometric updates (photo, fingerprints) can be done at Aadhaar centres. Some updates may attract a fee as per UIDAI guidelines.
Linking
Aadhaar can be linked to bank accounts, PAN, mobile numbers, and other services as required by the respective authorities.
